International Festival of Contemporary Dance
The International Festival of Contemporary Dance is the event of the Venice Biennale dedicated to contemporary dance, established in 1999 under the direction of Carolyn Carlson, famous American dancer and choreographer.
The Biennale Danza has rapidly established itself as one of the most significant activities within the Venice Biennale. Frédéric Flamand, Karole Armitage, Ismael Ivo, Virgilio Sieni and Marie Chouinard alternated in the direction of the event.
Countless shows, installations, conferences, workshops and master classes with very important names in contemporary dance.
So many Golden Lions for career handed over these years, such as the same Carolyn Carlson, Pina Bausch, Jirì Kyliàn, William Forsythe and Sylvie Guillem, all protagonists of the world dance.
